Established in 1956 Tayto have expanded from one factory in Tandragee Castle, County Armagh, to becoming the UKs third largest snack manufacturer. Over the last nine years a series of careful acquisitions has seen the company grow to a turnover of £200m and led to the ownership of key brands in their market, including Golden Wonder, Real Crisps, Mr Porky and Jonathan Crisp and Midland Snacks. The company employ over 1400 people across five manufacturing sites.
Your new role
Your function as Technical manager will be to provide Technical Leadership and Technical Services to the Site Manufacturing operation to ensure that all finished goods fully comply with all Customer and Business Policies, Procedures, Product Standards, Manufacturing Specifications and Quality Management system. You will be responsible for maintaining the Quality Management system and implement group requirement supported by effective process control. You will also manage the daily running of the Quality Department and personnel, overseeing food safety, quality and hygiene requirements within all areas of the site.

The Technical manager will be responsible for both a unique set of people and a unique building. Therefore we are seeking a unique blend of resilience and leadership. Although part of a wider group, the Technical manager should adopt an efficiency mind-set; using their initiative to get things done and make difficult decisions, that impact on the commerciality of the business and the efficiency of the production line.
The most natural fit will be someone who presents with circa 5 years’ previous experience in a Quality Management role. Either food hygiene, manufacturing or FMCG environment. The technical manager will sometimes travel off site for meetings within the group structure and also to meet with retailers. Therefore, he or she should have experience of direct supply to major retailers – One or more of Tesco, Asda, Waitrose, M&S or Sainsbury’s preferably.
